The short version

Who we are

Salary Income Calculator (salaryincomecalculator.co.uk) is a free UK take-home pay calculator. For anything to do with this policy or your data, use the contact form (choose "Privacy or data request") and we'll reply by email.

What we collect, and when

Calculator inputs — not collected

The calculator and the salary pages are static web pages. Calculations run entirely in your browser using JavaScript; nothing you enter is transmitted to our servers. The "Try the full calculator" links on salary pages pass the salary in the page address (for example /?salary=30000) so the calculator can prefill it — that value is read by your browser only.

Your consent choice — collected by Google's certified consent tool

Consent is collected through Google's certified consent management platform (part of Google AdSense "Privacy & messaging", IAB Transparency & Consent Framework v2.2). In the UK and EEA it appears before any advertising or analytics cookies are set, records your choice in the industry-standard TC string, and can be reopened at any time via the "Privacy and cookie settings" link Google places at the bottom of every page (or "Cookie settings" in the footer).

Advertising — Google AdSense

We show adverts served by Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and — only if you consent through the dialog above — to personalise them. Without that consent Google may show non-personalised ads or none. Details of how Google uses data in its ads products: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Analytics — only with consent

If you consent to device storage in the dialog above we load Google Analytics 4 (property G-H4E7DCC4SR). Google sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*, which last up to two years) and collects page views, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser information, and interactions such as scrolling. We use this to see which pages are useful. Google's own policies apply: policies.google.com/privacy. You can also opt out with Google's browser add-on.

Performance monitoring — only with consent

With the same consent we load a small real-user-monitoring script from StatusApp (ops.statusapp.io), a service operated by us, which records page load timings and JavaScript errors together with the page URL, browser type and a truncated IP address. It does not identify you.

Hosting and security logs

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes standard request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL) to deliver the pages and protect against abuse, and retains it briefly in accordance with its privacy policy. We do not receive this data.

Fonts

The Inter typeface is served from our own domain, so loading a page makes no request to Google Fonts or any other third-party font service.

Affiliate links

Some pages contain clearly labelled affiliate links to partners (business bank accounts, accounting software, pension providers, comparison sites). We set no cookie for these; when you click, the partner's affiliate network may set a cookie on its own domain to attribute a later sign-up, under its own privacy policy. We receive aggregate click and sign-up counts only. See our affiliate disclosure.

Budget & Tax Alerts — only if you subscribe

If you subscribe to Budget & Tax Alerts we store the email address, annual salary and tax region (rest of UK or Scotland) you give us in the form, and use them for one purpose: emailing you what a Budget, the Scottish Budget, a tax-year change or a mid-year rate change means for the take-home pay on that salary. This is the only personal data we hold about anyone, we process it on the basis of your consent, and we never sell it or share it for marketing. Subscriptions are managed through SendBeam and emails are delivered by Resend, which process this data on our behalf. Every email contains an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately, and you can also email us to unsubscribe or to have your details deleted entirely.

Contact form

The contact page opens a draft in your own email app; we do not operate a form back-end. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to reply.

Legal basis

Under UK GDPR and PECR: essential storage (your consent choice) is necessary to honour your preferences; advertising and analytics cookies, performance monitoring and Budget & Tax Alert emails run only on your consent; showing non-personalised content and security logging by our host are in the legitimate interest of funding and keeping the site available.

Your rights

Unless you have subscribed to Budget & Tax Alerts we hold no personal data about you, so there is usually nothing for us to access, correct or delete; if you have subscribed, email us and we will show you, correct or delete what we hold. Either way you retain every right under UK GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection) and the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Email us and we will help, including by asking Google to delete analytics data where that is possible.

Children

The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

We will update the date at the top of this page whenever the policy changes. Material changes to what we collect will be reflected in the consent dialog before they take effect.
