About Salary Income Calculator

We built Salary Income Calculator because understanding your take-home pay shouldn't require a degree in accountancy.

What We Do

Salary Income Calculator is a free UK tax calculator that shows you exactly how much of your salary you take home after income tax, National Insurance, pension contributions, and student loan repayments. We cover every salary from £10,000 to £200,000 for both England/Wales and Scotland, with full support for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 tax years.

Why We Built This

Whether you're negotiating a new salary, considering a job move, or just checking your payslip is correct, you need clear, accurate numbers. Many existing calculators are cluttered with ads, outdated, or use confusing interfaces. We wanted something better — clean, fast, and accurate.

Our Calculators

Where Our Data Comes From

All tax rates, thresholds, and allowances are sourced directly from HMRC and the Scottish Government. We update our calculator promptly when new rates are announced — typically within days of HMRC publishing updated figures.

UK median salary data is sourced from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE).

Accuracy

We take accuracy seriously. Our calculations are cross-checked against HMRC's own PAYE tools and tested across hundreds of salary points and tax configurations. However, individual circumstances vary — if you have complex tax affairs, we recommend consulting a qualified accountant or tax adviser.

Tax Years Supported

We currently support tax years from 2020/21 through to 2026/27, allowing you to compare how your take-home pay has changed over time. The default tax year is automatically set based on the current date (switching on 6 April each year).

Free Forever

Salary Income Calculator is completely free to use with no registration required. We believe everyone deserves access to clear, accurate tax information — not just those who can afford professional advice.
